Hawks Men Basketball Team Defeats Little Priest Tribal College

NORFOLK – After trailing 4-3 in the first two minutes of the game, the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team went on a 12-4 run and never looked back as it defeated Little Priest Tribal College, 108-86. The Hawks improve to 5-0.

Northeast, which took a 59-35 lead into the locker room, extended its lead by 28 points at the 15 minute mark in the second half before coasting to the 22 point victory.

All ten Hawks players who suited up scored in the game and five them did so in double figures. Buay Tuach had 23 points followed by Jalen Bradley, 19, Dionte Smith, 14, Shawn Lipscomb, 13 and Omar Venable, 12. Smith pulled down nine rebounds and Kevin Metoyer recorded a team high eleven assists.

As a team, the Hawks shot 59-percent from the field and forced 21 Little Priest turnovers.

The Hawks will hit the road next weekend to take part in the Coffeyville Community College Classic in Coffeyville, KS. Northeast will take on Labette Community College of Parsons, KS, on Friday at 5 p.m.
