The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team allowed only 12 points in the first half on its way to a 71-44 victory over Midland University JV on Tuesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk, Neb.

The Hawks (8-6) were led by a balanced-scoring attack as nine players scored five or more points in the contest. Kori Fischer (South Sioux City, Neb.) led Northeast with 10 points and five boards, while Irene Sanz added seven points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore Lauren Hunstad (Parker, S.D.) filled the stat sheet with six points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Freshman Kyla Moore (Norfolk, Neb.) pitched in seven points, five rebounds and four steals in 18 minutes of action.

Northeast held the Warriors to just 25 percent shooting from the field and forced 20 turnovers.

Northeast hits the court against Western Nebraska Community College at 6:30 p.m. (CT) Friday in Scottsbluff, Neb.
