National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week is October 19-25. In honor of that, Northeast Community College’s Student Activities Council (SAC), the Health & Wellness and The Alcohol and Other Drug Committee hosted the annual “Sober in October” on October 19, 2016. Students learned the effects of alcohol by participating in several unique activities throughout the Ag Complex.

The activities included students walking on a line, driving and parking a golf cart while wearing Fatal Vision Goggles. A Solo-cup activity opened students’ eyes to the actual serving sizes of different alcoholic beverages. The Viewpoint’s Mark Lange along with videographer Colin Ortmeier has the story.

About: I graduated from Crofton High School last year. I’m currently a freshman at Northeast. When people see me they don’t initially believe that I actually grew up on a farm! I love video games and comic books. None of my friends know more about Batman than me! I also love Chuck Taylor Converse shoes and Snapback hats! I decided to go into Mass Media because I just love talking! What better way to express my God-given gift of gab than to become a radio announcer?

About: Growing up in Columbus and graduating from Columbus High I was always involved in different activities. People can find me in the outdoors taking different shots for short films and stills. Being born in the state of Nebraska I was instantly a Husker fan since the day I could walk. EAT. SLEEP. BREATHE. In that order. My dream one day would work for an outdoor industry company making short films or producing a show. My life lesson “Dream Big”.
