Ankeny, IA – The Northeast Community College golf team finished sixth at the Iowa Central Community College Invitational here Friday and Saturday. The two-day tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course was shortened to 27 holes following windy and extremely cold conditions on the first day.
Bellevue was champion with a 459 while host Iowa Central was ten strokes back in the 11 team field. The Hawks of Northeast finished with a two-day total of 482.
Individually, Marc Juggins of Bellevue, was medalist with 111 – one stroke better than Matt Bennett of Iowa Lakes Community College.
For Northeast, Tyler Lewis was four back with a 115 while Dalton Lammers carded at 119. Elsewhere, Preston Peters and Stephen Grand Pre finished with 124 and Jamy McCoy shot 127.
Brad Bosh, Northeast coach, said he was pleased with his team’s performance.
“We shot a 313 today and if you stack that up to our other regional teams that were in this tournament, we would have been right there. We still have a lot of work to do, but our goal is to be ready for the regional preview tournament in a couple of weeks.”
The regional preview will be held Sunday, April 17, and Monday April 18, at Lake Panorama Golf Course in Panora, IA.
