The Viewpoint, the student led newspaper on campus, will be seeing a big change next year. Starting the fall semester next year we will be going digital. We will start going from a print and online paper, to an online paper only. The Viewpoint next year will only have four print issues in the fall and start the transition to a web only publication. According to Jason Elznic, the adviser for The Viewpoint, the reason is not financial. “trying to manage a paper and website is difficult with a small staff” said Elznic. “We’re losing readership and are going digital to put effort in the area where we can get more readers.”
The publication, that was started in 1968 will now be focusing on getting readers on their website. The paper will be using social media such as Twitter and Facebook to send their readers to the website. In case readers forget this change between now and next January, The Viewpoint will be announcing this change in many ways in their publications, Facebook, Twitter, and other means.
