Student Activities hosts annual Halloween dance

NORFOLK- A few Northeast Community College students were awarded prizes for getting in the Halloween spirits with their costumes at the Halloween Dance.
The dance took place Wednesday Oct. 30 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center. For this Wacky Wednesday event, the Student Activities Council brought in a DJ, a photo booth, snacks and drinks for students to enjoy. Costumes were encouraged for students, but not required.
Student Activities also hosted a costume contest, the available categories for students to enter were individual, duo and group. Prizes were awarded to the first-place winners of each category.
The winner of the individual costume contest was dressed as Chucky. She was awarded $100. The second-place winner was also dressed as a killer.
The winners of the duo contest featured someone dressed up as Bob Ross and another as his happy little leaves. This couple was awarded $125.
Second place went to two girls dressed up as hippies.
The winners of the group category were characters from the Wizard of Oz. They were awarded $150.
Second place went to a group of three boys dressed up as frat boys.
Students were able to take home printed copies of their pictures in the photo booth and they also featured on a slideshow if they were posted on social media and had the Northeast account tagged.
