Hawks place fourth at Region XI Tournament; Schaefer qualifies for nationals

AMES, Iowa – Matthew Schaefer (Fordyce, Neb.) is headed to the NJCAA DII Men’s National Golf Tournament after bringing home a fourth-place finish at the Region XI Tournament on Sunday and Monday at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames, Iowa.

Schaefer shot a two-day total 150 to punch his ticket for nationals, which is set to kick-off on May 21 at the Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

Overall, the Hawks were one place shy of qualifying as a team for the national tournament, carding a 641.

Matthew Kingston (Springfield, Neb.) tied for 15th-place with a 159, while John Lapour (Omaha, Neb.) carded a 166.

Grant Sell (Gothenburg, Neb.) tied for 35th-place with a 172, while Mason Stubbs (Randolph, Neb.) netted a 173.
