A look into the Halloween dance

Kaylea Kuhlman, Reporter

The Halloween Dance took place Oct. 31 from 9 to 12 a.m. as part of the Student Activities Councils Wacky Wednesday. It was held in the lower half of the student center. The event featured a DJ, photo booth and a costume contest.

Around 200 students showed up for the Halloween evening. Lots of students came dressed up for the occasion in a variety of costumes. Multiple students got rewarded for their costumes during the contest towards the end of the night. The contest was divided in three sections; male, female and groups. The male winner was dressed in tights and a wig. The female winner was dressed as a character from Mama Mia. Winner of the group contest was a couple dressed as Beauty and The Beast. The winners received gift cards worth over $200 in total.

The DJ featured songs that most students knew. He played fun songs with dances such as the ‘chicken dance’ and the ‘macarena’.  He incorporated a few old pop songs such as “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus and “Tik Tok” by Kesha. Classic Halloween song “Thriller” by Michael Jackson was also featured.

The Viewpoint also did a costume contest. Anyone can vote for their favorite costume over on the Facebook page here. https://www.facebook.com/35333240993/posts/10155860805120994/ Contestant with the most ‘likes’ on their photo by Nov. 4 at 12 a.m. will win a prize
