Byekwaso scores 38 in Northeast victory over Central

COLUMBUS, NE – Moses Byekwaso scored 38-points and pulled down six rebounds in leading Northeast Community College to a 96-87 win over Central Community College Wednesday in Columbus.
After a 16-2 run and shooting nearly 49-percent from the field, the Hawks took a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime, 45-44. After intermission, the Raiders narrowed the gap and gained the lead. However, Northeast scored often and shot nearly 59-percent from the field in the second half to secure the win.
Four other Hawk’s players join Byekwaso in scoring in double figures. Jaquan Sanders added 23 points and nine assists, Steve Wooten scored 16 points and seven rebounds, while Allen Anderson chipped in 13 points and four boards in the win. Malik Mooving led the Raiders with 18 points.
Northeast (14-15) will close out the regular season in hosting Marshalltown Community College on Friday at the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. Northeast and Marshalltown will play a women’s contest at 5 p.m.
Both games, originally scheduled for Saturday, have been moved up a day due a pending winter storm moving through over the weekend.
