Northeast volleyball excels in day one of Ridgewater Tournament

WILLMAR, MN – The Northeast Community College volleyball team found success in the first day of the Ridgewater College Tournament here yesterday. The Hawks swept both College of DuPage (25-9, 25-18, 25-16) and Ridgewater College (25-22, 25-14, 25-17).
Against DuPage, Elizabeth Selting led the Hawks in kills with ten, while Monique Schafer had nine; Samantha Brester, eight; and Macy Stewart, seven. Taylor Lammers and Tayler Klassen had one solo block each, and Macy Stewart posted three ace serves. Schafer and Peyton Roach led digs with 17 and 15, respectively. Savannah Nelson led assists with 30; Delaney Belt, four; Stewart, two.
In the Ridgewater match, Stewart led kills with 11, while Schafer had ten. Lammers had one solo and one assist block, while Brester and Selting had one solo block each. Gabriela Barbosa led ace serves with two, and Schafer and Nelson had one each. Schafer and Roach led digs with 15 and 12, and Nelson had 36 assists.
The Ridgewater Tournament continues today with the Northeast set to play University of Jamestown JV at 10:45 a.m. and St. Cloud Technical and Community College at 1:45 p.m.
