Men's soccer defeats Dakota County Tech, 3-1

ROSEMOUNT, MN – The Northeast Community College men’s soccer team has improved to 3-4 after defeating Dakota County Technical College here Saturday. Final score was 3-1.

Twenty-one minutes into the game, the Hawks were able to get pressure in the middle, which gave Cameron Krueger the opportunity to pass to Nickolas Gamma, who scored a goal and put Northeast on top 1-0 going into halftime.

About three minutes into the second half, Arthur Lopes received a pass from Cale Frahm and made a shot for Northeast’s second score. Eight minutes later, Krueger found a gap through the defense and passed to Frahm, who made the score 3-0. The Blue Knights scored off of a corner kick after a save from Francisco Nuno with less than 10 minutes left in the game.

“Our boys really possessed well in the first half, but in the second half, I felt we really controlled possession,” said Chad Miller, Northeast coach. “We were very patient and moved the ball around well. That created opportunities, and we used them. Our boys really played some great soccer today.”

Northeast had ten shots on goal to the Blue Knights’ nine. Massimiliano Simonazzi recorded seven saves for the Hawks, and Nuno had one.

Northeast will return to action on Wednesday when they host Iowa Central Community College at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk. The women’s game will follow at 4 p.m.
