Northeast women’s soccer falls to Scott CC in OT

BETTENDORF, IA – A very brief overtime period decided the game for the Northeast Community College women’s soccer team and Scott Community College here Saturday. Northeast lost the game 1-0.

About three minutes into overtime of the scoreless game, Scott fired a corner kick that went directly into the goal untouched.

“It was a tough way to lose a match, but I feel Scott earned the win,” said Hawks Coach Chad Miller.

“Scott outplayed us. They seemed to play with more energy and knocked us off the ball. We struggled with possession and movement, and are struggling on offense again. We are getting the ball there but not putting ourselves in a position to get shots.”

Scott had seven shots on goal to Northeast’s two. Kaitlyn Van Surksum recorded five saves for the Hawks.

Northeast (2-6-2) returns to home field on Wednesday when they host Iowa Western Community College at Veterans Memorial Park in Norfolk. Game time is 7 p.m.
