Aida Santana-Martín, a transfer student from Western Wyoming, has decided to bring her skills to Northeast Community College to assist the women’s basketball team for the 2016-17 season. Santana-Martín is not only a transfer student but is an international student as well. She has lived in the Canary Islands in Spain up until two years ago when she decided to see what the United States had to offer for college and for basketball. According to Martín the college game in the United States is a bit different from the international league. When asked about the biggest difference between the international and the collegiate game she said “it’s just a different game, so they count on me a little bit more because I bring a different dynamic.”

Joining Santana- Martín as new members of the women’s basketball team are Melanie Bateman of Brisbane, Australia; Mykala Baylor of South Bend, IN; Iva Belosovic of Zagreb, Croatia; Samantha Caruth of Las Vegas, NV; Maddie Egr of Yutan, NE; Jerrica Neal of Gary, IN; and Kaitlynn Sjuts of Humphrey, NE. The official season is set to begin on Tuesday November, 8 2016 against Concordia. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. and will be played at Northeast Community College at the Cox Activity Center.
