Northeast Women Improve To 20-4 After 86-42 Win Over Southeast CC

NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team cruised to an 86-42 win here Monday against Southeast Community College to improve to 20-4.
Northeast started strong, scoring 25 points to Southeast’s 18 in the first quarter, and 22 to Southeast’s 16 in the second. The Hawks widened the lead even more in the second half, with Southeast scoring six total points to Northeast’s 21 in the third quarter, and two in the fourth to Northeast’s 18.
Four Hawk players scored in the double digits. Brooke Bauer led with 19, while Sydney Koel had 16, Raveen Murray scored 12, and Francesca Minali finished with 10. Murray and Maeva Kitantou led in assists with seven each. Rebounds were led by Pip Armitage with six.
Southeast’s Jayla Brown collected a double double with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
The Hawks next host Central Community College in a double header with the men’s basketball team at the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast campus. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. and the men take the court at 8 p.m.
