Getting Credits for School Travel

Llolanda Hernandez, Reporter

Have you ever thought of taking an international student trip? If you have, you’re in luck. There is nothing better than traveling the world and getting college credit for it. Pam Saalfeld, Director of the Center for Global Engagement at Northeast, has been involved in international student trips for many years.  She has been instrumental in organizing trips to Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, and England to name just a few. She has also organized college exchanges with international universities.

There are a variety of upcoming trips. The first trip is a visit to Bath, England which will be taking place from July 5 – August 9, 2016. This will be a trip to receive credits for the course of ENGL 2100, Introduction to Literature. An estimate of the cost is $3500 which includes Northeast tuition, Bath University fees, airfare, lodging, some meals, and travel insurance.

Like thousands of others before them, Northeast Community College auto body students left a mark (NECC) on the wall outside Abbey Road Studios in London. There are also three planned trips for 2017. Students will travel to Costa Rica, Central Europe, and Canada. The trip to Costa Rica is intended for any student and they can get credit for BIOS 2020, Intro to Environmental Issues. This trip has an approximate cost of $2200 that includes airfare, lodging, ground transportation, and some admission costs. Saalfeld says that her door is always open for students to talk about these trips. She is in room 142 in the Maclay Building. Her email is [email protected] and her telephone number is (402) 844-7466.
