Hawks Fall To Marshalltown 71-58 In First Conference Road Game

MARSHALLTOWN, IA – The first conference road game for the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team ended in a 71-58 loss against the Marshalltown Community College Tigers here Saturday.
Marshalltown pushed to an eight-point lead early in the game, a lead the Hawks tied twice in the first half but were unable to overcome.
Northeast Coach Dan Anderson said that while his team had multiple chances to pull ahead, bad shots and costly turnovers hurt their chances.
“In our first road conference game, we looked uninspired and played with no energy. Marshalltown just simply outworked us,” he said. “We were out rebounded 52-30, and we need to shake things up before our next game against Southeastern.”
The Hawks were led in scoring by Marty Hill with 16 points and Milan Skundric with 11. Skundric also finished with 8 rebounds.
Vincent Lasley led Marshalltown with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Northeast returns to action Wednesday when they host Southeastern Community College at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus. Game time is 7 p.m.
