Megan Trinder Hurt for First U of O Season
October 30, 2015
Former Northeast point guard Megan Trinder is out for the season at her new home – the University of Oregon, according to the student newspaper, the Daily Emerald. Trinder was recruited last April by the NCAA Division 1 Ducks.
Trinder says it will take 6 to 9 months to recover before she she returns to the court. She says the doctors aren’t sure what caused it. “There wasn’t an incident where I did it. The doctors seem to believe there was a slight tear for a long time and completely tore.” says Trinder.
During her time with the Hawks, Trinder averaged 12 points, 7.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. She was #3 in the nation for assists. The Hawks were 51-10 over the past two years and were nationally ranked during both seasons.
Because Trinder came from a two year school, she has an extra year of eligibility, so despite the injury she still has two years to play. “My trainer and I want to make sure everything is done right before returning. Which means, I’ll be back playing around 8-9 months if all goes well,” says Trinder.
She says she will travel with the team and is grateful that her coaches and teammates have kept her involved as much as possible. Trinder says she loves the University of Oregon because it’s an amazing school, and she is very happy to be there.
