Northeast Falls To #1 Iowa Western In Four Sets

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA – The Northeast Community College volleyball team took the number one team in the nation to four sets Tuesday night, but fell to Iowa Western 25-14, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17. The Reivers are ranked first in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division One poll. The Hawks falls to12-7.

Taryn Luedtke led Northeast with eight kills. Elsewhere, Meagan Backer had 25 digs, Kiara Lopez finished with 24 assists, Grace Ecklund contributed three assist blocked shots, and Brittany Sullivan and Sydney Whitmarsh each had an ace serve.

The Hawks hit the road for two weekend matches in Southwest Nebraska. They face North Platte Community College in North Platte at 5 p.m. Friday and will take on McCook Community College in McCook on Saturday at 1p.m. Northeast’s next home match is Wednesday, October 8, against Central Community College. The match in the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus begins at 7 p.m.
