LOS ANGELES — Christine McVie will reunite with her Fleetwood Mac bandmates and tour for the first time in 16 years for nearly three dozen shows across North America, beginning Sept. 30 in Minneapolis.
“It was so comfortable being back onstage with them, as if no time had passed, and then we all started talking, and it feels like the time is right,” McVie said in a statement, referring to her guest spot with Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood last year at London’s O2 Arena. “I’m really happy.”
In a joint statement, the other four band members said, “As far as we’re concerned, she’s never really left. We are overjoyed to have Christine back on stage with us.”
The 2014 tour comprises 34 shows in 33 cities and is scheduled to run through Dec. 20 in Tampa, Fla. Fleetwood Mac’s periodic tours typically have been among the top-grossing tours each time they hit the road, and with McVie back aboard completing the lineup for the band’s 1970s and ‘80s commercial heyday, this round of shows figures to be one of this year’s biggest tours.
Tickets go on sale March 31 for American Express cardholders, and April 7 to the general public at Live Nation’s web site, or with Live Nation’s mobile app.
The group made the news official Thursday morning on NBC’s “Today” show in an interview from Los Angeles with Carson Daly.
