With only four days left until the individual mandate deadline for Obamacare… Oh, I’m sorry, Nancy Pelosi. We’re not supposed to say “Obamacare” anymore, are we? But we’ll get to that later. The individual mandate for Obamacare states you must sign up and pay for health insurance. Doesn’t matter if you don’t need or want it, you have to get it. It’s the law.
Anyway, the March 31st deadline is looming, and millions are still uninsured. Why? We were promised by POTUS that premiums wouldn’t go up. They did. We were promised we could keep our doctors. We can’t. We were promised we could keep our plans. We can’t. Over 5 million Americans have had their plans cancelled so far. POTUS blatantly lied to us. Or if you want to argue that he really thought people could keep their coverage, then he was ignorant about his own signature piece of legislation. Which sounds better to you?
The overwhelming majority of Americans who have signed up for Obamacare are those who had their original healthcare plans cancelled because of Obamacare. They’re now being forced to pay higher premiums and deductibles for an inferior plan. This is what happens when Government interferes with private business. We’re given a bad product, but told we must buy it, simply because it’s the law.
There is hope, though. “Hope.” Funny word now, isn’t it? There is a very slight, yet meaningful, delay to the individual mandate. You will now be able to check a box on the healthcare.gov website saying that you tried to get covered, but were unable to. This will allow you until mid-April to get signed up. The Government is now using the honor system to delay Obamacare. This will be the first of many delays to the individual mandate. But why, after being told that there’s no possible way the individual mandate would be delayed, is it now delayed? Senator Harry Reid said on Wednesday that the most recent delay in Obamacare was due to people not knowing how to use the internet or the healthcare.gov website. Oh yea? The main group of people this law depends on to work, young Americans, doesn’t know how to use the internet? Let’s call a spade a spade, Senator. Your website doesn’t work and people aren’t interested in Obamacare.
I mentioned this would be the first of many delays to the individual mandate. Here’s why. While the drafters and voters for Obamacare may be incredibly short-sighted, they’re politically clever. How else would they have made it this far in office (besides uninformed and ignorant voteres)? Midterm elections are coming in November and they know when people are forced to pay a “Shared responsibility fee,” for not enrolling, they will be outraged. Let me say that again. Shared responsibility fee. What are we sharing? Who are we responsible for? We’re supposed to be free to choose these types of things. Needless to say, Obamacare supporters will lose their House and Senate seats faster than Obama can change his law.
That law has already been amended over 30 times in its four years of existence. This is a law that passed with 0% of Republican vote and nearly 100% of the Democratic vote. Seems Republicans knew what this law really was, while Democrats blindly followed their savior, Obama. Even Representative, Nancy Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Are you kidding me? Listen, Pelosi, you’re supposed to be working for us. A public servant. You owed it to every American to explain this law vividly, and you didn’t. Of course, now we can see why you refused to do so.
So what is Rep. Pelosi saying about Obamacare now? When asked if she thought Obamacare is a winner or loser, she replied, “It’s called the affordable care act.” She then repeated “Affordable care act,” two more times. This is President Obama’s signature accomplishment (I use these words very loosely) and she’s now trying to detach his name from it. Is this not hint enough that this law is a joke that’s full of more holes than the investigation of the Malaysian Air flight that went missing?
