On Sunday, February 16, the Music Department of Northeast Community College put on their Winter Concert. Many were in attendance to hear the beautiful music and voices of our band and choirs at the Lifelong Learning Center. The show began with the College Concert Band performing “The Liberty Bell”, by John Phillip Sousa; “Saturn: The Ringed Planet”, by Rob Romeyn; “Overture for Winds”, by Charles Carter; and “Galop: From Dance of the Hours“, by Amilcare Ponchielli arranged by Larry Daehn.
After the band, the Ebony & Crimson group continued the show with three numbers including “Winter Wind” by Douglas Wagner, followed by the Men’s Ensemble with three numbers also, one being “She is Evening”, with text by John Parker and music by Vicki Tucker Courtney. Then the Women’s Ensemble sang to the audience three more numbers including “May it Be (From The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring)” arranged by Mark Brymer. This lovely concert was finished beautifully with the full Concert Choir singing five songs and ending with “Music, Lead the Way!” by Henry van Dyke and Laura Farnell.
Alison Zuch from Fremont enjoyed the concert and said, “I always enjoy coming to Northeast’s concerts because they have good music”. The next concert for the Northeast Music Department is the Chamber Concert on Sunday, March 23 at 2 PM in the Cox Activities Theater.
