IOWA FALLS, IA – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team picked up its eighth straight win over the weekend here with an 83-61 victory over Ellsworth Community College. The Hawks are now 23-2.
Alison Klostergaard led five Northeast players in double figures with 21 points. Debinique Knowles poured in 15 points, Yasmin Miller had 13, Emily Gamble finished with 12 Megan Trinder had eleven. Elsewhere Jamea Coleman finished with six points, Annie Szczepaniak had three and Ena Viso, two.
“We had some unforced turnovers that I didn’t like, but we shot 59% for the game from the field and were 15 of 19 from the foul line, said Matt Svehla, Northeast coach. “Debinique Knowles and Yasmin Miller were both six of eight from the field and Alison Klostergaard was nine of ten from the field and grabbed ten rebounds. We really had some great ball movement at times and we executed our stuff pretty good.”
Northeast will be in action February 10 as it hosts the Morningside College JV at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus in a women’s-men’s doubleheader. Women will tip-off at 6 p.m. with the men playing at 8 p.m.
