MARSHALLTOWN, IA – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team continues to struggle. The Hawks dropped a 100-82 contest at Marshalltown (IA) Community College on Saturday. Northeast, now 13-14 on the season, has dropped it last nine games.
After trailing by nine at halftime, the Hawks made a furious comeback to cut the lead to one, 61-60. But the Tigers went on a 10-0 run and the Hawks could never get any closer.
Five Northeast players scored in double-figures. Jabbar Washington had 19 points, Buay Tuach added 18, Lyle Hexom finished with 12, Chima Moneke chipped in eleven 11 and Khapri Alston had ten. Alston led the team in rebounds, grabbing nine. As a team, the Hawks shot 52 percent from the field and was 7-12 from the three point line.
Tonight, Northeast takes on the Morningside JV at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus in a women’s-men’s doubleheader. Women play at 6 p.m. with the men tipping-off at 8 p.m.
