NORFOLK – Despite a 70 point second half, Northeast Community College fell short to #6 Indian Hills Community College Wednesday here, 124-115. The loss drops the Hawks to
13-11.
Trailing 68-45 at halftime, Northeast cut the Indians lead to eight points on three separate occasions in the second half, but it could not get any closer. The Hawks also could not capitalize from the free throw line as the team went 31-63 from the charity stripe.
The Hawks had five players in double figures. Chima Moneke and Dionte Smith both scored 26 points. Other players in double figures were Buay Tuach with 20, Anthony Woods with 13 and Sheed Fairley with 11. Woods also recorded 12 assists.
Northeast takes on #3 Iowa Western Community College Saturday in a men and women’s doubleheader at the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast campus in Norfolk. The women will tip-off at 5 p.m. with the men to follow at 7.
