BEATRICE – Despite a 16-point second half lead, the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team fell to Southeast Community College here Saturday 78-74. It is the third straight game where the Hawks fell to an opponent by less than four points.
Northeast took a 12 point halftime lead into the locker room and at one point, was up 47-31 in the second half. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 13-10.
Northeast was led by Khapri Alston who scored 24 points. Chima Moneke and Buay Tuach also scored in double figures adding 17 and 10 points, respectively. Moneke was the top rebounder for the Hawks with 12.
Northeast will be in action this Wednesday as it hosts Indian Hills Community College at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
