NORFOLK- Five players in double figures helped the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team in an 81-49 runaway win Friday night here over North Platte Community College.
The Hawks improve to 18-2 with the victory.
Alison Klostergaard and Emily Gamble led Northeast with 17 points each while Debinique Knowles and Yasmin Miller contributed 13 points apiece and Jamea Coleman had 10. Klostergaard also pulled down 10 rebounds and had six steals.
“We defended North Platte well during the first half and our pressure forced 17 first half turnovers,” said Matt Svehla, Northeast coach. “We shot the 3 pointers well and our overall field goal percentage was 52%. It was good to get the win, but we have a tough turnaround game on Saturday.”
Both Northeast women and women head to Beatrice on Saturday to take on Southeast Community College. The women’s game begins at 2 p.m. while the men tip off at 4.
