NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team is 6-0 on the year after a weekend victory over Mounty Marty here. The Hawks won Saturday’s contest 77-65.
Emily Gamble led four Hawks players in double figures with 21 points. Alison Klostergaard had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Northeast Coach Matt Svehla said his team had its hands full in the first half and the score reflected it. “We allowed Mount Marty to get to spots on the floor that led to some easy scores. Most of it was not us moving our feet and allowing them to get into the lane. We did a much better job of defending them in the second half and those stops led to transition points,” he said. “When we get stops, our team gets in attack mode. We have a number of players who can handle the ball and make plays in the open court.”
Northeast will be action on Tuesday as it plays at North Platte Community College in a 5 p.m. contest.
