Northeast Community College’s men and women’s basketball teams won against Morningside College JV, Feb 14th.
During the women’s game, Northeast was able to pull ahead of Morningside College JV and win 79-67. The Northeast women had a strong free throw night, making 23 of 28 shots.
Jaylan Spencer led the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Alison Klostergaard also helped out, with 19 points and nine rebounds. Andrea Johnson and Debinique each had 12 and 10 points respectively.
Allison Bachman and Sydney Gibson led Morningside College JV with 14 points each.
Northeast Community College’s men’s team also won their game against Morningside College JV 100-72.
Sean Scott led Northeast with 18 points, making seven out of 11 shots, and five steals. Khapri Alston chipped in 16 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks.
Shane Henning led all scorers with 20 points for Morningside College JV. Andrew Christen, the only other Morningside player to score double digits, had18 points and 8 rebounds.
Northeast made 46 out of 71 shots, 65%. It was the fourth game of the season that they had scored 100 points or more.
Defensively, Northeast only allowed Morningside to shoot 35% (31% three-pointers) from the field. They also blocked 15 shots
