Most people didn’t know what movie I was talking about when I said I wanted to see Silver Linings Playbook. I admit that I wasn’t really sure what it was about and really only wanted to see it for the cast, but after seeing the film, I would recomend it to anyone.
Silver Linings Playbook is a movie adaptation of a novel by the same name written by Matthew Quick. The movie shows a perspective of bi-polar disorder that I had never seen before and I am very pleased to see it handled so well.
Bradley Cooper plays Pat, the lead male, who is being released from his court ordered 8 month minimum stay in a mental hospital. He meets Tiffany, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and they start to bond over their shared mental disorders and develop a love-hate relationship. They learn to live with their disorders through each other
With the perfect balance of comedy, drama, and a little romance, anyone would enjoy this movie.
Aside from Cooper and Lawrence, other big names in this movie are: Robert De Niro as Pat Sr., Jacki Weaver as Dolores, Chris Tucker as Danny, John Ortiz as Ronnie and Julia Stiles as Veronica.
The film is nominated for an Academy Award in Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
While the movie itself is not predicted to win, Jennifer Lawrence has already won awards for her role and is a favorite to win the Oscar too.
