The Northeast Community College speech team has collected another round of trophies during recent speech tournaments in North Dakota and Oklahoma.
Coach Terry Nelson said Northeast picked up 14 trophies at the two-day Valley Forensics League tournament in Fargo, ND. The tournament is co-sponsored by Concordia College in Moorehead, MN. Northeast placed third in the overall team sweepstakes on both days.
For Northeast, Jessy Eggerling, Milford, placed first in persuasive speaking on both days, second in duo interpretation on both days, second in poetry, fifth in communication analysis and sixth place in prose. Landon Harley, Winnetoon, picked up five awards including three second place honors in duo interpretation on both days, as well as in poetry and persuasive speaking. He also earned fourth place in poetry. Teammate Sara Lennox, Wisner, took fourth in oral interpretation.
Northeast claimed four trophies against 20 other schools at the Cameron Christmas Classic in
Lawton, OK.
Harley placed third in oral interpretation, sixth in duo interpretation and advanced to the semi-finals in poetry and prose interpretation. Egglerling earned third place in informative speaking. Joe Bob Geis, Vermillion, SD, placed sixth in duo interpretation and advanced to the semi-finals in poetry.
Also competing for Northeast in the tournament were Quinn Kelly, Neligh, and Tanner Brown, Pierce.
These were the final tournaments of the semester for the Northeast speech team. It has four more tournaments in the winter of 2013.
