Northeast Nebraskans will soon be able to get into the seasonal mood as the Northeast Community College music department hosts its annual Holiday Concert.
The event will be held Sunday, December 9th at 2 p.m. in the Cox Activities Center Theatre on the Norfolk campus.
The Northeast College Community Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Randall Neuharth, director of instrumental music activities, will perform.
The Northeast Concert Choir, Men’s Ensemble, Women’s Ensemble, and Ebony and Crimson, under the direction of Dr. Linda Boullion, department chair and director of choral music activities, will also perform. Margaret Schultz is accompanist for the vocal groups.
Dr. Neuharth’s Community Concert Band will perform “A Carol Triptych,” by Pierre LaPlante; “An American Christmas,” by Robert W. Smith; “A Vaughan Williams Christmas,” by Ralph Vaughan Williams; and “Nutcracker Suite,” by P. I. Tchaikovsky, arranged by Clair W. Johnson.
Vocal selections by Dr. Boullion’s groups will include “Tomorrow Shall be My Dancing Day,” arranged by John Leavitt ; “Tidings of Joy!” arranged by Lloyd Larson; “Festival Deck the Hall,” arranged by Jay Althouse; “Still, Still, Still,” by David von Kampen; “Winter Has Come,” by Ruth Morris Gray; and “Cantate Hodie!,” by Mary Lynn Lightfoot.
The December 9th concert is free and open to the public.
