The NECC DAC CLUB Alumni held its 7th annual indoor tractor pull Saturday March 10th, at the Ag Complex.
Billie Ruwe said, ” It was the biggest pull we’ve had in the last 7 years and also the fastest.”
There were a total of 323 hooks (tractors that hooked to the sleds), which would equal about 130 tractors each hooking up at most 3 times.
The pull started shortly after 10:00 A.M., after the National Anthem was played. They had Divisions 1 and 2 on the west track with The Little Red Sled, and Divisions 3, 4, and 5 on the east track with the Hot Foot Sled. (The higher the division number the more modifications have been done and more power they have.) All Divisions started with 3500 pounds to 8500 pounds. The Stock Farm classes were on both sleds, then on Hot Foot finished out the day with the 5700 pound to 9700 pound 3000 RPM and V8 classes.
The pull went 100times faster this year with the addition of the second sled, Hot Foot, which also attracted a possible 100 more pullers than the previous years. The beautiful day could have also been the attraction as well.
Although it was extremely windy throughout the day, it was tons better than the freezing cold conditions of last year. The pull ended a little before 6:00P.M. with the help of the second sled whereas the last few years it went until almost 9:00P.M. with less tractors and hooks.
The building was kind of cramped with the two tracks and the two scales. In previous years with the one track there was plenty of room to park along the sides of the track either the whole time or at least until it was your turn to pull.
This year there was just a single line on the west track that was the pulling order. I was also concerned about tractors going in and out of the building; and accident was bound to happen but thank goodness one did not take place.
The NECC DAC CLUB made about $1600 after paying for the sleds, the food that was bought for the concession stand, and then plus the donations that were received.
All in all, the shower was well earned at the end of the day.
