Northeast women crush Central for 25th win of the season

COLUMBUS – Kyla Moore (Norfolk, Neb.) dropped a career-high 27 points on Wednesday night as the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team (25-3, 3-1 ICCAC) toppled Central Community College, 85-57 at the Raider Fieldhouse in Columbus.
The Hawks’ potent three-point shooting put the Raiders on their heels for a large portion of the contest. Northeast hit 48 percent from beyond the arc, including six by Beth Matas (Girona, Spain) and five from Moore. The Hawks went on to score 20 or more points in the first three quarters, while holding Central to just 33 percent shooting from the field.
Matas added 24 points and five assists, while Emina Hadzihusejnovic (Mostar, Bosnia) had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Julia Carbonell (Barcelona, Spain) chipped in 10 points.
The Hawks ultimately shot 49 percent from the field, while forcing 15 turnovers.
