Holiday concert planned at Northeast Community College

NORFOLK – The music department at Northeast Community College invites everyone to get in the holiday spirit with a concert to be held next week.
The Northeast Community College Holiday Concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Monday, December 9, at 7 p.m., in the Cox Activities Center Theatre on the Norfolk campus.
The college/community concert band and concert choir will take the stage. Two brass ensembles and a woodwind ensemble will also be a part of the program.
Vocal selections, directed by Stewart Cramer, director of vocal activities, will include “In the Bleak Midwinter,” by Sally DeFord and featuring Kathi Angeroth on violin; “Christmas in about 3 minutes,” by Mark Weston; Conventry Carol, a traditional carol; “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” arranged by Jill Gallina, featuring Seth Rivest on tuba and Dalton Rath on xylophone; and “The Work of Christmas,” by Dan Forrest.
Margaret Schultz is the accompanist.
With Kevin McLouth, director of instrumental activities as director, the Northeast College/Community Concert Band will be performing “Christmas Declarations,” by Robert W. Smith, “Toboggan Ride,” by Stan Applebaum, and “Jubilant Holiday,” by Sean O’Loughlin. A “Christmas Sing-a-Long,” arranged by James Ployhar, will be performed and include participation by the band, choir and audience.
