Hawks fall in heartbreak fashion to No. 12 Iowa Central

NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College volleyball team had the momentum on Wednesday night after winning the first two sets over No. 12 Iowa Central Community College in an ICCAC match at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

 

The Hawks (18-16, 6-2 ICCAC) were held in check for the rest of the match as the Tritons took the final three sets. Set scores were, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 and 15-8.

 

Brianna Bauer (O’Neill, Neb.) led the Hawks with 16 kills and 11 digs. Hannah Heppner (Stanton, Neb.) added 13 digs, while Carly Hirsch (Norfolk, Neb.) had 11 digs and 10 kills. MaKayla Davidson (Alliance, Neb.) tallied 45 assists and 15 digs. Josie Sanger (Crofton, Neb.) and Caitlin Kumm (Osmond, Neb.) pitched in 27 and 21 digs, respectively.

 

The Hawks hit the road at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to square off with Des Moines Area Community College in Des Moines, Iowa.
