Committees Hold Hearing On Taxes
April 25, 2019
LINCOLN- Nebraska lawmakers are debating tax options. Three legislative committees held a public hearing yesterday over a plan to use state aid to schools in order to reduce property taxes. The plan could lower property taxes by 10 percent, raise the state sales tax from five-point-five percent to six-point-two-five percent, and end tax exemptions on candy, soft drinks and bottled water. Public schools would also gain 540-million-dollars in funding.
