Northeast men unable to shoot past Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Down by two points at halftime, the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team was unable to mount a comeback, falling to Marshalltown Community College 76-62 in ICCAC action in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Despite being down by a bucket heading into the locker room, the Hawks (13-15, 2-6 ICCAC) out-shot the Tigers in the first half. But, the second half was a different story as the Hawks shot only 29 percent from the field compared to 46 percent by the home team.

Emmette Page (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Hawks with 25 points, including five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Moses Byekwaso (London, United Kingdom) added 16 points, while Daniel Akuei (Melbourne, Australia) had 10 rebounds, three steals, and two points.

Northeast returns to Marshalltown to begin District XI play at 7 p.m. on Monday.
