Northeast Students Prepare To Produce Original Music Video
November 21, 2014
In this week’s On The Couch segment with Editor in Chief Angela Richart, Northeast audio production major/music student Xandria Gregory and singer/songwriter Renee Bracken talk about their upcoming music video project.
Bracken started her own SoundCloud account with cover songs and her own original music, and Gregory is a audio student at Northeast. Audio instructor Timothy Miller is the one who actually got the girls motivated to produce an original music video.
Gregory and Bracken have been working with music together for the past ten years. They have taken their love of music from singing covers of songs to singing their own music to performing in downtown Omaha. These girls are not only partners in the music business but are also best friends.
“I’m lucky I get to have my best friend to work with,” said Gregory.
They have support from everyone around them but both girls’ parents warned them that they need to have a career backup idea, or plan B. Gregory is majoring in audio production and she wants to travel with bands as an audio engineer. She’d also love to have her own band someday. Bracken’s plan B is to major in behavioral science.
Bracken started singing her own songs on SoundCloud because people were requesting to hear her own music instead of just covers. She says that really brought her out of her comfort zone but once she started, it became much easier.
The music video is still in the pre-production stage. Bracken said finding an actress is the first step.
If you would like to hear Bracken’s music, her SoundCloud name is Renee Tulowitzki.
