NORFOLK – All five starters for the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team scored in double figures as the Hawks cruised over Quakerdale Prep Academy 122-64 on Monday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

Scoring wasn’t an issue for the Hawks as they took a 71-37 lead heading into halftime. In the first half alone, Northeast shot a blistering 66 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point land.

“I thought we shot the ball well tonight,” head coach Dan Anderson said. “We were able to jump on them fairly quickly and got to play a lot of guys. Now we need to get ready for NIACC on Friday.”

The Hawks at 6-4 held the Eagles to 30 percent shooting from the field in the contest, while Northeast finished shooting 59 percent from the field.

Northeast was led by 6-foot-9 freshman Luke Rollman of Humphrey as he had a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds, good for a double-double. Emmette Page of Brooklyn Park, Minn. added 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Joel Ufele of London, United Kingdom had 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Junior Oscar of St. Helens, United Kingdom chipped in 15 points.

Sharp-shooting sophomore Seth Coatta of Minnetonka, Minn. had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists. Moses Byekwaso of London, United Kingdom added 12 points, while Daniel Akuei of Melbourne, Australia had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds and Ben Moxness from Scribner tallied 10 points off the bench.

The Northeast men will compete in the Great Western Classic at 3 p.m. Friday, taking on North Iowa Area Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
