Students who come to community colleges to play sports typically plan to transfer and continue their trade at a four-year school. Norfolk native and Northeast sophomore Aaron Wilken signed February 28, 2018. He plans to continue his education and soccer career at Northwestern College of Iowa in the fall of 2018. Wilken was a captain for the Hawk’s soccer team. In his time at Northeast, he played center back. When asked about his experience Wilken said, “The goal when I signed at Northeast was to continue playing after the two years here. Making the most of my two years here and becoming a better player was important as well. You have two years to figure it out so you have to be at your best right away and there is no time to waste.” Wilken is pursuing a degree in secondary education with an emphasis in math and hopes to one day be a high school math teacher.
