Northeast women defeat Southeast 70-60

BEATRICE, NE – Northeast Community College had three players score in double figures in route to a 70-60 win over Southeast Community College in women’s basketball Wednesday.

Mykala Baylor recorded a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds while Baileigh Nuzum finished with 15 points, which were all three-point shots, and Sierra Bell had 12 in leading
the Hawks to its 22nd win of the season.

“We had a pretty good third quarter that allowed us to get some breathing room,” said Matt Svehla, Hawks coach. “But we did not play very well in the first half on either end of the court. Our defense was suspect and we didn’t convert some easy plays on the offensive end. We still need to get more consistent with how we play, but I’m glad we made the plays when we
needed to.”

Svehla said Baylor’s double-double and Nuzum’s five, three-point shots were significant in allowing Northeast to get control of the game.

The Hawks (22-3) will host Arkansas Baptist College this Friday at the Cox Activities Center on the Northeast Community College campus in Norfolk. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
