NORFOLK, NE – Northeast Community College has again been named to the Military Friendly® Schools list by Victory Media, an organization that connects the military community to civilian opportunities.

Now in its sixteenth year, the Military Friendly® Schools list uses data sources from federal agencies, veteran students and proprietary survey information from participating organizations to provide a comprehensive career and education guide for veterans and their families.

More than 1,300 schools participated in the 2017-2018 survey with 849 earning the designation. Institutions earning the designation were evaluated using public data and from a proprietary survey completed by the school. For the first time, student survey data was considered for the designation. Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Victory Media with input from an advisory council of independent leaders in the higher educations and military recruitment community.

“Once again, Northeast is honored to be designated a Military Friendly college,” said Amanda Nipp, vice president of student services. “We know the journey from military to student life is not easy and can even be overwhelming at times. Helping our veterans make a successful transition into college life is the least we can do to thank them for their service to our country.”

The final ratings for the Military Friendly Schools list were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with an assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, degree advancement/transfer and loan default rates for all students, and specifically student veterans.

Victory Media is a service-disabled, veteran-owned business serving the military community since 2001. Its data-driven lists are published in G.I. Jobs®, Military Spouse, and Vetrepreneur® media channels, republished in periodicals such as USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Bloomberg BW, and frequently cited on national TV by NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, CNBC, Fox News and others.

Nipp said any current serviceman or servicewoman or veteran interested in enrolling at Northeast Community College should contact Karen Hoefler, assistant registrar, at (402) 844-7730 or visit www.northeast.edu/Records-and-Registration/Veterans to learn more about Northeast.
