WILLMAR, MN – The Northeast Community College volleyball team finished 1-1 on the second day of the Ridgewater College tournament here yesterday. After a successful day one in which the Hawks swept both College of DuPage and Ridgewater, day two saw Northeast falling to University of Jamestown JV  in four sets (25-19, 22-25, 26-28, 21-25) and defeating St. Cloud Technical and Community College in three (25-19, 25-14, 25-17).

In the Hawks’ loss to Jamestown, Monique Schafer led with 15 kills, one solo block, six ace serves and 14 digs. Macy Stewart recorded 11 kills and three assist blocks, while Samantha Brester had three assist blocks. Peyton Roach led digs with 15, and Savannah Nelson tallied 12 digs and led assists with 39.

Against St. Cloud, Elizabeth Selting led kills with nine; Monique Schafer, seven; and Taylor Lammers, five. Selting had one solo and two assist blocks, while Lammers had two assist blocks. Ace serves were led by Schafer’s two and Gabriela Barbosa’s one. Roach led digs with 13, and Nelson, 11. Nelson also led assists with 22.

Northeast (9-6) will host Iowa Western Community College on Tuesday at the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus. Game time is 7 p.m.
