Northeast Community College students marked September 11th by volunteering for local non-profit organizations. Stations were set up in Paradise Courtyard from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Monday to recognize the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Service Projects include Breakfast Buddies for Meals on Wheels, Sensory Bottles for Behavioral Health Services foster children, Ouch Pouches for Bright Horizons, Hygiene Kits for Project Homeless Connect & Norfolk Rescue Mission, Dog & Cat enrichment toys & chew toys for the Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska, Greeting cards & candy for residents at Heritage Bel Air Nursing Home.

Students like Carli Houston received a Northeast Serves t-shirt by making a dog toy, creating a care package for the elderly, and making a ouch containing alcohol wipes, band-aids, and pain medication for victims of domestic abuse.
