ESTHERVILLE, IA – The Northeast Community College women’s soccer team held Iowa Lakes Community College to a two-overtime 1-1 tie in their final game of the regular season played here today.

“Our girls played a great game,” said Hawks Coach Chad Miller. “It was a long one with the two overtimes, but we did a great job of keeping their shots from distance, and we had some very good possession, especially on counters.”

Valentina Haboush scored Northeast’s lone goal, unassisted, 23 minutes into the first half. The Hawks were able to get some chances to increase their lead but weren’t able to follow through.

Iowa Lakes evened the score in the 70th minute. After the goal, the Lakers pressed forward, but Northeast’s defense prevented them from scoring again.

Iowa Lakes had ten shots on goal to Northeast’s four. Kaitlyn Van Surksum registered nine saves for the Hawks.

Northeast finishes regular season play 4-9-3 and will be competing in the Regional XI tournament. They face Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA, on Wednesday, October 26.
