SEWARD – The Northeast Community College women’s soccer team finished in a 2-2 tie against Concordia JV here Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored their first goal halfway through the first half. Not long after, Northeast’s Valentina Haboush netted a goal off a corner kick from Kaylee Chapman.

Concordia replied with another goal about 10 minutes later, and at the 35th minute mark in the first half, Northeast evened up the score again with Madison Wendland scoring from Erika Kumm’s free kick.

Score at the half was 2-2. An evenly played second half saw neither team scoring.

The Hawks and Bulldogs were tied for shots on goal with five each. Kaitlyn Van Surksum had three saves for Northeast.

“I am pretty happy with how we played overall,” said Northeast Coach Chad Miller. “We had times of great possession and then we had times where we could have done better. But we did much better on offensive/defensive balance. We used a little more patience and it helped. We still need to work on that a little more, but the good thing is it is small things we need to fix.”

Northeast next travels to Dodge City, KS, on Saturday, where they face Dodge City Community College at 12 p.m.
