Hines to speak at suicide prevention program at Northeast Community College

Llolanda Hernandez, Reporter

Northeast NE Coalition for Suicide Prevention will be presenting speaker, Kevin Hines, at Northeast Community College. The program was scheduled for January, but was later postponed. Now, the presentation will take place on March 17, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. It is free, and open to the public.

On September 24, 2000, Hines, a paranoid and hallucinating 19-year-old, jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in a suicide attempt. He is a mental health advocate and peer counselor. Hines continues to travel the world to share his story in hopes of preventing more suicides and educating people about mental health wellness. He is considered to be one of the most well-known suicide prevention speakers in the United States.
