MARSHALLTOWN, IA – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team ended their 2015-16 season with a 69-66 loss to Marshalltown Community College in the NJCAA Region XI Play-In here Monday.
Down 20-28 at the half, the Hawks fought back late in the second half. In the final minute, two free throws by Northeast’s Jalen Mobley brought the score to 66-67, Marshalltown. After a Northeast timeout and with six seconds left on the clock, Marshalltown’s Denzel Ubiaro was fouled by Milan Skundric and hit a pair of free throws, bringing the final score to 69-66.
Jalen Mobley led Northeast in scoring with a game-high 21 points. Kevin Metoyer finished with 18, while Pierre Conwell had seven. Rebounds were led by Conwell and Vance Johnson with five each, and assists were led by Metoyer’s five.
Marshalltown was led in scoring by Christal Malalu with 20 points.
The Hawks close the season 2-6 in conference play and 15-13 overall.
