NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College volleyball team ended the regular season with a straight set victory over Southeastern (IA) Community College here Wednesday, 25-13, 25-10 and 25-6.
“The girls played well tonight,” said Amanda Schultze, Hawks coach. “It’s always hard to get into system when the other team plays at a slower tempo, but we were able to push and beat them in three sets.”
Courtni Kunz led Northeast with ten kills while Tabby Kander and Kelsey Shoemaker had nine kills and two block assists each. Shoemaker also had four ace serves. Rachel Brandl recorded four ace serves while Mackenzie Wecker had four and Bridget Schneider added two. Wecker also registered 17 digs while Meagan Backer contributed 14. Schneider was joined by Kiara Lopez with 17 assists each.
Northeast (15-21) will host Iowa Lakes Community College (3-26) in a first round match in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Tournament on Wednesday, November 4, in the Cox Activity Center Theatre on the Northeast campus in Norfolk. Game time is 7 p.m.
