NORFOLK – A member of the Northeast Community College women’s basketball team has earned national recognition.

Megan Trinder has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I All American Third Team. Each team, first through third, includes ten players.

Trinder, a 5’7” sophomore guard, of Hollywell, Queensland, Australia, helped lead the 25-6 Hawks women’s basketball team to a #17 national ranking. She led the team in scoring, averaging 12 points and 7.3 assists per game. Trinder’s 7.3 assist per game average was third best in the nation this season.

“This is a great honor for Megan and it is very deserving. She gave so much to Northeast Community College during her two years and she is such a good point guard,” said Matt Svehla, Northeast head coach. “The energy, passion, skillset, and leadership she brought to the court were awesome. Point guards like Megan do not come around very often and she is definitely a special one.”

Trinder has made a verbal commitment to play for the University of Oregon next season.
